Sometimes in the course of financial claims it will be necessary to draw upon the expertise of others such as pension experts, accountants, property valuers and surveyors and we have developed good relations with such trusted advisors. Some clients reach agreement themselves or with the help of mediator and simply require our advice on the terms of the agreement reached and help formalising the agreement with the Court. This is known as a Consent Order. In other cases our skilled litigators will negotiate settlement on your behalf using the principles set out in case law and the Matrimonial Causes Act. If Court proceedings prove necessary we work closely with specialist barristers to obtain an appropriate settlement at the earliest possible stage. The starting point for the Court when considering financial settlements is an equal split but each case is considered on its own facts and there may not always be a strict equal division of assets.
